About the event
A half-day workshop where you will create your own wraparound-style A6 leather journal from scratch, selecting your paper and cover leather before being guided through the steps of folding, cutting, piercing and sewing to produce a beautiful and unique final product.
This is one of the most ancient styles of bookbinding, dating back to the early codex documents where the paper signatures are sewn directly onto the leather covers. The leather used on the course is usually upcycled upholstery leather or sourced from offcuts from the upholstery industry.
No previous experience is required, though there is some manual dexterity involved and close work may require reading glasses if you usually use them.
Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop, and all materials are supplied.
